Every gooner on the planet is celebrating the Community Shield victory over Manchester City. Make no mistake however, the team we faced was a very disorganized, unfit and confused, however rest assured it will not be the same City we will face in EPL. It is arguable that their poor performance is a concern of theirs, or we gooners could be optimistic that we are the ones ahead of the game.
There were a lot of positives to take away from the game. chalmers looked like a very credible CB, but not a viable RB, he got overrun by Dzeko, a not so fast forward. Debuchy was very efficient going forward which worries me, especially if we do not solidify the midfield, or play our CMs to be more defense aware. Sanogo is in form and eager to impress. He was involved in 2 of the goals, and served as a versatile, passer, header and even running at City's defenders at times. I actually think his play gets amplified by the quality we have on the wings now in the name of Alexis Sanchez. He was like a shark, for someone who won a lot, he played with purpose and is very hungry, creating chances and making Sanogo look good. Another thing to highlight is Jack Wilshere Performance. I think he at times reckless, but that aggressive play is key in providing backup to our defense. For the first time we really looked like a team with tremendous depth. We are missing a key defender and our world class playmaker in Ozil. I'm almost taking for granted Giroud, Ramsey and Carzola work rate, because that's how much we've been spoiled of late.
There are several adjustments we need. Our team has weaknesses, that I'm sure the manager is aware of, nevertheless it's a good step towards preparation and an exciting outlook to the season.
